Papers of Frank Hutchens [manuscript]. 1905-1965.

Manuscript copies of music composed by Frank Hutchens together with scrap books containing programmes of concerts given by Hutchens, and by Lindley Evans and of concerts at which works composed by Hutchens were performed. There are also books of press cuttings concerning Hutchen's performances and compositions, an album of photographs and a scrap book containing personal documents, and letters and 13 musical scores.

Pianist, music teacher and composer. Originally from New Zealand, Francis (Frank) Hutchens became a popular concert pianist in Australia, and was a founding member of the New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music, where he taught for fifty years. In 1962, he received the O.B.E. for his services to music. Hutchens died in Sydney in 1965 as the result of a car accident. Margot Anthony, wife of Doug Anthony, was one of Hutchens' students at the Conservatorium. ...
